How to Check E-Scooter Battery Status (BMS, Cycles, Capacity)
Number of charging cycles, remaining capacity, and battery health. How to read data from the BMS and when it's time for a replacement.
What is BMS
Battery Management System is an electronic unit that protects the battery from overcharging, deep discharge, overheating, and ensures uniform charging of all cells.
Number of Cycles
One cycle = complete discharge and complete recharge. Lithium-ion batteries in e-scooters achieve 500–800 full cycles before their capacity drops below 80%.
Real Lifespan
For a typical user (5,000 km annually), the battery lasts 5–7 years with normal use before replacement makes sense. For intensive daily riding (delivery driver), 3–4 years.
Replacement Cost
Replacement of the battery pack for AM: 400–650 €. For A1: 700–1,100 €. After 5 years, this is still economical considering the scooter's condition.
