AM from 15 years old, limited to 45 km/h. A1 from 16 years old, up to 125 cm³ or equivalent electric motor. We explain the differences.

AM or A1 License? Which to choose for riding an e-scooter

AM License — from 15 years old

You can obtain it as early as 15 years of age. It allows you to ride mopeds and scooters of category L1e up to a speed of 45 km/h. The practical part is shorter, but also includes riding in traffic.

A1 License — from 16 years old

From the age of 16. It allows you to ride motorcycles up to 125 cm³ or electric L3e models up to 11 kW. Speeds up to 85 km/h, also suitable for suburban routes.

Already have a B category license?

A B driving license (car), obtained before 1. 4. 2013, also includes A1. After this date, an additional exam is required.

Which e-scooter suits your license

With an AM license, you can ride L1e category models limited to 45 km/h. With an A1 (or older B) license, you can ride faster L3e models up to 85 km/h.
