E-Scooter for a 15-Year-Old: What to Buy for a First Moped
At 15, get an AM license and a new e-scooter with higher safety, limited speed, and lower costs than a petrol moped. A guide for parents.

AM License at 15
A teenager can obtain an AM license upon turning 15. The course includes 8–10 hours of theory and 4 hours of practical driving. Total cost ~€250–€350 with the theoretical exam.
Why Electric and Not Petrol
An e-scooter is quieter (less disturbance for neighbours), has no petrol smell, and won't stain clothes. Maintenance is simpler — no oil, spark plugs, or carburetor adjustments.
Safety Features
Our AM models feature LED daytime running lights, ABS braking system (in selected models), a digital speedometer, a reverse light, and helmet storage under the seat.
EKO sklad Subsidy
The €300 subsidy also applies to purchases for teenagers — it is only important that the e-scooter is registered to a person with permanent residency in Slovenia (can also be a parent).
Total Investment
AM license (~€300) + AM e-scooter after subsidy (from €1,190) + helmet and gear (~€150) = around €1,640 for a teenager's first 'car'.
